Question by Unique S: IRS Levy – can they take your unemployment check?
My bf received a notice of levy for IRS. It will start this pay period. They will be taking 60% of his payroll check. He will also be getting laid off by the middle or end of July. Will the IRS go after his unemployment check? Can he contact the IRS and work out a suitable pay plan, even after they have started garnishing?

Thanks so much for any information or websites.

I would contact the IRS, Depending on how much he owes they would work something out. Be careful though, the interest on their pay plans can be ridiculous so make sure you understand how much interest you’ll be paying. As far as the unemployment check, I believe any income is fair game. I hope it works out for you…good luck!
