Question by Phyllis: How often does the IRS levy a bank account?
I just went to the bank and found out my bank account has been levied by the IRS. It was fully wiped out! I heard that the IRS only does this once. Is it secure for my money to be in my bank account? I get direct deposit.

You ought to have received a notice prior to (last month sometime) that this was coming. Whilst the IRS normally only levies once to get your attention, there is nothing stopping them from doing it numerous times, and it is not unheard of. As far as your direct deposit, I would withdraw it as soon as it hits your account. Also, if you continue to ignore your tax debt, they could begin other collection choices like garnishing your wages. Your greatest bet is to locate a tax skilled (enrolled agent, tax attorney) to help you get your tax debt resolved.
Finest of luck to you.
